– The Weekend of Thunder presented by MPT Industries roars into New Jersey Motorsports Park for the second consecutive year and Round 5 of the 2015 Trans Am Championship. If you are a fan of V8 powered muscle cars, this is the event for you. A Trans Am Series race is 100 miles in length, and does not require a mandatory pit stop for fueling, tires or driver changes. As a sprint, it is driver versus driver, and that means it’s flat out racing from start to finish. Past Trans Am champions include Scott Pruett, Brian Simo, Scott Sharp, and Boris Said. Formula Lites will make their series debut at NJMP this year. This series is sanctioned by SCCA Pro Racing and was created to provide an economical, technologically advanced race vehicle with an emphasis on safety, to give drivers the opportunity to develop their skills to progress into higher levels of open-wheel racing. The Formula Lites program aims at developing drivers interested in entering professional motorsports, including those who seek to make the leap from karting to open-wheel racing. Also joining the lineup for the Weekend of Thunder will be the Porsche Club of America and NASA’s (National Auto Sport Association) Northeast region will also bring high-throttle racing action to the weekend with two race groups.
New Jersey Motorsports Park announced last week that they will offer $1.00 (one dollar) tickets to this event. These tickets must be purchased in advance on the park’s website and will require an additional parking fee. Brad Scott, General Manager and COO of NJMP states “We want to invite racing fans out to experience the excitement that this event brings. With the wide spectrum of cars you will see on the track, we are sure it will be a crowd pleaser. We have over 200 cars registered to race for the Weekend of Thunder.”
The weekend kicks off Friday evening at the Finish Line Pub with Bike Night and back by popular demand Megan Knight will be performing from 6-10pm. Tickets for Weekend of Thunder event are available at NJMP.com, advance tickets for Saturday and Sunday are $1.00, gate tickets will be regular price.
