– The Meritor Champtruck World Series kicked off its 2015 inaugural American series last weekend here at New Jersey Motorsports Park. The big rigs took on Lightning Raceway for two days of gear jamming racing that was a spectacle not witnessed on U.S. soil in 30 some years.
After decades of successful racing in Europe, the ChampTruck Series decided it was time to bring this unique racing series back to the states. Millville was the first stop on a 10 race schedule that winds down at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on October 30th.
Topping the podium on Sunday afternoon was Powershift Performance driver “88Mike” Morgan after an exciting weekend of wheel-to-wheel racing. Mike Ryan, driving for Team 31 placed second followed by Rick Rude in third driving for Jupiter Motorports.
“We are proud to be the first stop on the Meritor ChampTruck 2015 season, the fans that came out this weekend were part of racing history being made at New Jersey Motorsports Park” said Brad Scott NJMP General Manager and COO.
The Meritor Champtruck World Series next stop is on May 22-24 at Thunderhill Raceway (Willows, CA). Next up at New Jersey Motorsports Park is the 24 Hours of LeMons May 9-10. Tickets are available online at njmp.com.
